Yes, unfortunately doctors are used to people making more of something than what should be, but I always look at it this way, pain is pain. It doesn't matter whether it should be lesser or greater, if you're experiencing it on a certain level, whether or not you have a high tolerance or not, pain management measures need to be invoked. The cause doesn't even matter at that point. Just fix the pain.

Once the pain is to a manageable level, THEN is the time to care what caused it in the first place so something can be done to keep it from going to that level again.

And yes, my guess is Dr. Doogie wouldn't have been able to tolerate the level of pain. Period. :D

That was the frustrating part, Amanda. Leaving the ER almost 5 hours after arriving to have MORE pain than when I had arrived, and the pain level at that point wasn't good.

But thankfully, I was able to take the pain meds when I got home and fell blissfully to sleep. And things are MUCH better today. I can walk normally.

I think Doogie must be like a lot of doctors I have encountered. A. They are used to people making a huge fuss over relatively nothing, and B) they don't believe people who say they have a high tolerance to pain "so when I say it hurts, it REALLY hurts." I always think Id like to see how THEY cope with pain. Probably like little babies. ;)

Glad you're feeling somewhat better now.

I hate that trying to get pain relief only caused more pain. Dr. Doogie needs a lesson in compassion obviously. I am so glad you are feeling better now both emotionally and physically. You are very strong I have no doubt you can make it through anything. Sending hugs and prayers. Lots of Love

In reply to Rhonda Cowsert.

Fortunately, the bump was so soft, it didn't cause me any additional pain. Which is why I thought the girl's reaction was a bit over the top. Hubs was immediately apologetic and concerned for her well-being, but she ignored him after swearing at him and kept trying to call people. Her ding could be rubbed out with rubbing compound. I took pictures so nothing more can be claimed. I hate to be that way, but thought it best.

And this time, I'll cut Doogie a tiny bit of slack. He really doesn't know me... So it might be best for him to actually see me first. Might. The issue I had was that Saturday night, with a pain level of 8 which had been getting worse all day, he wanted me to wait until Monday. That was wrong. When someone gives you 8 on the 10-point scale... You get them pain management. Period.

Ick! I would seriously like to punch Dr. Doogie in the throat. I'm so sorry you were in pain like that - I want to say at least they didn't find anything glaringly wrong in any of the tests but that really doesn't solve the problem does it? :(

I have a fun little (benign) tumor that sits on my knee. Occasionally it swells and plays havoc with the nerves and the arthritis in that knee - you don't realize just how much you use your knees to do everything until suddenly they decide to toss in the towel and scream every time you move.

And the fender bender was just the cherry on the cake right? UGH! I have to say that is literally the same thing that happened when hubs rear ended a girl a few years back. No big deal when you're healthy but I bet the jar of the impact, even at that low speed, hurt like the dickens. *hugs*

Here's hoping the doc can get this sorted for you so you don't have to deal with ongoing knee pain.
