I can’t believe that Read an E-book week is half way over. This week is just flying by. Before you know it, the weekend will be over and it will be time to face one more Monday morning.

This morning on my way to work, I passed a teenage girl carrying 6 or 7 of what appeared to be library books. It did cross my mind that her back wouldn’t have been quite so hunched over as she carried her load, if they had been e-books. Those could have been carried on something as small as a flash drive. Although, the first thought that crossed my mind was that it was good to see a reader.

Don’t forget that reading a book in PDF format on your computer counts as participating in e-Book week as well, so don’t get left out. One day we’ll look back and wonder how anyone got by without e-books. Read a printed book – too old-fashioned. Until then, remember, the choice is yours. . .

I keep hoping for more Kindle sales, but young adult is a tough market for the Kindle. It’s kind of a tough sell to get a parent to shell out $359 for a device for a teenager, when all it does is enable them to read books or listen to audio books. What if they lost it?

Amazingly, more will spend the money to purchase their teen an iPhone or the iPod Touch, which have the e-book reader app Stanza. Now of course there is a Kindle app for these devices as well, so I may see a little more movement of e-books. I will say this, when I was a teen, the possibility that I would be given any one of these devices was less than slim-to-none. So, I’ll live in hope of the e-book sales, but keep plugging away with pushing paperback sales.
